Appeal filed by Barbara Shanklin

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Members of the Louisville Metro Council have begun the process to remove
fellow council member Barbara Shanklin, but her attorney is continuing to fight the ruling that started the ball rolling.

On April 1, Aubrey Williams, the attorney for Newburg-area councilwoman, filed an appeal on Shanklin's behalf. Williams is appealing the findings of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Ethics Commission.

In March the commission ruled that Shanklin violated ethics rules and used her office to get neighborhood development grants for the Petersburg-Newburg improvement association, where she was on the board of directors.

The Ethics Commission also found that Shanklin violated ethics rules by hiring her grandson to work in her council office.
