UPDATES: ED MARTIN SETS THE STAGE

Many of you know of Ed Martin primarily as co owner and co host of the MyViewMatters Radio Show. As such you also know Ed Martin is the Libertarian candidate for the 3rd Congressional District where he faces John Yarmuth and Todd Lally. This from his press release:

Ed Martin, Libertarian Candidate for Congress, Announces Campaign Staff
Pulling from a diverse and wide ranging pool of political experience, Ed Martin, Libertarian candidate for the 3rd Congressional District seat currently held by Democrat John Yarmuth, finalized his campaign staff during a meeting on Friday, Aug. 13.

Former Martin campaign manager, Christi Gillespie, passed the baton to new campaign manager Ronald Seiter. Seiter maintains a strong reputation in Louisville as a political activist and served as treasurer of the Louisville Tea Party.

Gillespie stepped aside in order to pursue the formation of a 501(c)3 organization called Free and Equal, which will advocate for ballot access reform. As head of a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, federal law prohibits her from participating in federal campaigns.

Martin’s other new staffers bring a wide range of experience to the campaign. Former 3rd District candidate Darren Brinksneader will take on the role of media director. Wendy Caswell, a conservative activist and another well-known name in Jefferson County politics, will serve as events coordinator. Mike Maharrey, state coordinator of the Kentucky Tenth Amendment Center and a sports editor from Lexington, will work with the campaign as a communications consultant.

All of Martin’s staffers are volunteering their time and talents to the campaign.

“I am both humbled and excited that these people, my friends, have committed themselves to the campaign. They are volunteering because it’s something they believe in. They are smart, energetic, and a little irreverent,” he said. “I’m very much looking forward to working with them.”

Seiter said that the staff is biting at the bit to get to work making Martin and his principles known across Louisville, giving voters a real choice in November.

“This new team promises to provide a legitimate third party campaign, the likes of which are seldom seen in the city of Louisville,” Seiter said. “What makes this campaign unique is that it brings together diverse elements of liberty, under the core principles of the Libertarian Party. Conservatives, who tend to favor fiscal responsibility, and progressives who embrace social justice are all coming together here to promote liberty and responsibility. We intend to stand for something, rather than against the other parties.”

Many of you may recall the name Ron Seiter. Ron is former Chairman of the Louisville Libertarian Party and former Vice Chair of the Kentucky Libertarian Party. Pay attention as I am sure with this staff Ed will make some serious waves.

GAIL POWERS FUNDRAISER: Republican candidate for the State House District 44 seat Gail Powers is having a fundraiser tonight at the Lions Club on the corner of Cane Run Road and Terry Lane from 6-8 pm tonight. Gail is very serious about this race and would be a great addition to the House. In fact she is one of the few people I know who has even read the entire Healthcare bill in Washington. Even our illustrious 3rd District US House Rep John Yarmuth admittedly has not done that! Here is the info:

Gail Powers for State House District 44 fundraiser

Today · 6:00pm - 8:00pm

VA HOSPITAL REMINDER: Remember to make plans to attend the VA Hospital open forum tomorrow night at the American Legion Post 2919 Bardstown Rd from 6-8 pm. This forum was put together by Metro Council candidate Patrick Duerr to bring a voice to our vets and our community on this very important issue.

See you next time!
