THE SPORT OF KINGS: KING SAGA CONTINUES

Many of you have been writing and asking me for updates on the King situation and I have to tell you I have been busy with other priorities so it has taken awhile to update.
My sincerest apologies.
The picture above is very telling considering that Frank Mascagni went on record speaking for County Attorney Mike O'Connell about sending me some phantom letter I have never received Louisville News and Politics: YES IT IS TRUE: CRIMINAL CHARGES FILED AGAINST KING ATTORNEYS
Gee what a coincidence that Mascagni and O'Connell are friends huh?
Here is a recap of what has been going on:

It’s been 631 days since King gave his first illegal $10,000 contribution.
It’s been 458 days since King gave the last illegal $50,000 contribution.
It’s been 358 days since I filed my KREF complaint against the King's.
It’s been 156 days since I filed the King criminal complaint.
It’s been 127 days since Hart Megibben was appointed special prosecutor.
It’s been 109 days since I filed the Grand Jury Packet.
It’s been 47 days since Hart Megibben asked for a KSP investigation.
It’s been 15 days since I filed criminal charges against King attorney's Cubbage/Snyder
…… and we’re still operating in the blind with no results.

Rumor has it that Katie King dismissed a DUI case for lack of probable cause last week even though the defendant violated traffic laws, admitted to smoking marijuana just before driving, and the lab report tested positive.

I am going to pull the court video because King reportedly even admitted on the record she doesn’t know the law. The defense attorney was one of King’s main campaign sponsors in her recent fundraiser, Rob Eggert.

Seems to be a habit of Katie King showing favoritism to her friends and donors instead of partnering with police as she campaigned on doesn't it?

I have also been told that none other than Governor Steve Beshear's office contacted KSP a month ago and told them to stop the investigation into the Kings. Of course, this is just a rumor but it sure does make sense considering everything has come to a complete stop.

My best guess is that O’Connell, Megibben, the KREF, the KBA, the KSP and possibly the JCC might be trying to work something behind my back. I honestly don’t know but the silence is very suspect.

For the record I have never been contacted by the KSP as part of this investigation nor have I been contacted in any way to date by County Attorney Mike O'Connell in response to the criminal complaint.

Investigation? Doubtful.

Coverup? You be the Judge.

So this is where we are at today.

A word of warning to all agencies involved. I told each of you long ago this would not go away quietly and I meant it. We will have justice even if that means taking on the Governor himself and his crony Abramson.

Yes I know all about the ties to Cordish, Greg Fisher, United Electric, 4th Street Live, and a few other things that are going to be outed soon. You should never trust your inner circle when you screw them all as a habit. Hear that guys?

And yes this includes personal habits and names of some "acquaintances," including a local one, as well as hangouts and people he "hangs out" with (Indianapolis and New York ring a bell?) of a certain elected official in this group.

The time for games is over you will do your job........

HEINER RESPONDS

The following was sent as a press release by Hal Heiner in response to Chris Thieneman. My apologies for not getting it posted yesterday as I was in frankfort all day and headed straight to the Radio Show last night.

Read it over and let me know your thoughts.

Heiner Sets the Record Straight

Louisville, KY – Yesterday, Hal Heiner’s opponent leveled several false and reckless claims about Mr. Heiner’s successful history of job attraction. The statements are especially concerning because Hal’s opponent does not realize that businesses and families rely on the regional nature of our economy. His opponent’s lack of understanding of the basic economics of job creation has led the campaign to set the record straight.

Facts:

1. Hal Heiner has worked in the business of job attraction for the past two decades, including working with site consultants and business owners from around the world on their expansion needs.

2. Hal Heiner left a real estate company and used his life savings to found his own company, Capstone Realty, which developed Commerce Crossings, a 300 acre business park located at the Preston Highway and Gene Snyder Freeway. The Commerce Crossings' area employed 0 people in 1997 and today employs over 4,000 people in 20 buildings.

3. In 2006 Capstone Realty expanded into Southern Indiana and built four buildings on an existing commercial site in Jeffersonville, Indiana called River Ridge. This site was a previously abandoned military ammunition facility that today employs over 1,000 people in four buildings built by Capstone.

4. Capstone’s River Ridge phase began when two global companies, based outside of Kentucky, approached Capstone regarding spec space at River Ridge. These companies decided to expand and relocate approximately 440 jobs from Louisville to Jeffersonville, IN. These jobs could have relocated anywhere in the world but the companies decided to stay in our economic region for their expansion. The companies chose to locate in commercial space built by Capstone at River Ridge. As mayor of a globally competitive city, Hal Heiner will work to bring jobs to Louisville. When a company decides to locate outside Louisville, Hal's goal will be to keep the jobs in the region rather than let the jobs escape our economy. The bottom line is that Louisvillians kept their jobs and continue to bring their paychecks home to Louisville every week.

5. Louisville is the core of a regional economy. Job attraction numbers quoted by our campaign are those published by the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics for our regional economy, which includes surrounding counties and Southern Indiana. Therefore, jobs moving from Louisville to Jeffersonville or from Jeffersonville to Louisville are not counted as jobs gained or lost in that economic data.

This campaign season for mayor is critically important for the future of Louisville. Wild accusations issued by candidates have the potential to reduce this race to a school yard brawl. Should this happen, Louisville loses.

Let's keep this community wide debate focused on Louisville's future so that 2011 becomes our best year ever.

SENATOR JULIAN CARROLL: IT'S TIME TO GO

It is with great sadness that I must report that ex Governor, and current Senator Julian Carroll, has finally went off the deep end. I am not sure when it happened, or why, but Carroll obviously does not know what being an American is all about. I submit the following for your review:

What else can be assumed based on his statement basically stating that if you do not like the 2 party system then leave America. With some reports estimating as many as 60% or better of registered voters identify themselves as independent regardless of party designation how can this Senator say he does not care what they think?

DO we not elect our Congressmen to represent ALL constituents in our Commonwealth?

Do we not expect them to recognize we may have differences but it is their Constitutional duty to represent even those that oppose them equally and fairly?

Apparently, Carroll thinks not and has proven with his asinine statements exactly why the outside world looks at Kentuckians in many ways as redneck hicks. We must rid ourselves of these dinosaurs like Carroll who have nothing to offer Kentuckians anymore but obstruction and a 1950's mindset.

To accuse someone or group of citizens who just wants to be allowed the right to vote in a primary election so their voice is heard of being anti-American then telling them they need to leave the Country is just ridiculous.

Perhaps Senator Carroll would like to add up the total cost involved for a primary vote then divide that number equally per person of each registered voter in Kentucky and give ALL registered independents a refund of that tax money.

Independents pay taxes too and they fund the election process as all of us tax paying citizens do. With this in mind, Carroll thinks he has the right to tell them they are un American and leave the Country? There is nothing more American than being allowed the right to vote in every election regardless of your registration designation.

Senator there is nothing in my Constitution that states this is a two party Country or Commonwealth. As a matter of fact the same people you want to disallow from the election process are the same individuals who pay you for your service.

It would seem Carroll is not alone in this distorted view of the facts. Many Democrats do not like this and the vote on SB 53 was split along party lines. Big surprise huh?

For the members of the House, are you listening Darryl Owens and company, remember this is a chance to correct a wrong and many throughout the State will be paying attention to your vote and handling of this.

With this display by Carroll, is it any wonder myself and others are no longer Democrats? The Democratic Party of old does not exist. If Julian Carroll is the spokesman for today's Democratic Party then the Party is even worse off than I imagined.

The days of dinosaurs and elitist attitudes by elected leaders must end and it must end now.

Carroll just showed why.

UPDATES FROM FRANKFORT

My apologies to you readers for the last couple of days I have been busy in Frankfort working on some legislation and doing some personal lobbying for others.

I am happy to say that SB 80 the named "Seum-Thieneman" bill for transparency passed the Senate and is now headed to the House. Senate Bill 80 as you know is a bill I have been supporting since its inception. The bill essentially puts the Louisville Metro Mayor under the same constraints as the Governor has.

You may recall this bill passing the Senate last year then died quietly in the House led by Rep Darryl Owens. The biggest concern was the Abramson machine did not want him so transparent (big surprise huh), however, with Abramson vacating the Mayoral seat and the next Mayor will be a new Mayor no matter who gets elected the time for this change is now.

It's a no brainer to pass it, however, the House Democrats will try to kill it led again by Darryl Owens. Please read the bill and support it by contacting your Rep today!

I am also happy to report that SB 53 sponsored by Senator Jimmy Higdon passed the Senate today as well. SB 53 is a bill making Kentucky a semi-open primary State and would join Kentucky with 33 other States who have a similar arrangement. This bill will allow Independents the right to vote in primaries and will bring us closer to finally allowing all an equal voice in the process.

We may be slow in getting there but the time is now to become inclusive of all taxpaying citizens who want the right to vote in every election. Welcome to the 21st Century.

Regardless of party affiliation we all pay taxes and fund elections and all should have an equal voice in who will run in November. This will finally help bridge that gap and make sure all voices are heard. Kudos to Independent Kentucky Chairman Michael Lewis and new Senator Jimmy Higdon for having the courage to stay with this.

After some grandstanding by Senator Julian Carroll on Friday tying thi ssomehow in his unusual way to Rush Limbaugh of all people, and his insane comments today to Independent Kentucky Chairman Michael Lewis, it really is obvious that his best days in elected office are behind him.

Senator Carroll actually stated that if you do not belong to the Democratic or Republican Party and don't believe in the two party system you should leave America.

Folks that is the most asinine ANTI-American statement I have heard yet from an elected Representative. It was certainly a statement I would never have expected from Senator Carroll who I had respect for at one time. Disappointment in him would be an understatement.

CNN was in town covering SB 53 for their show to air tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 8 PM. Listen in as it showcases the struggles for Independents to be heard.

Look for the House to try and stop this as well as it seems to be a serious concern to Democrats who are worried this will in some way unseat them. Power trips are a scary thing and this promises to be a battle. It puzzles me why so many Republicans are welcoming Independents to the elections and Democrats are trying to force them out. This cannot bode well for the Democrats of the future. Whatever happened to being inclusive?

I also met with Senator Gary Tapp who has sponsored SB 64 a bill I fully support as well. SB 64 will help bridge the gap for openness and transparency at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife I have been reporting on lately.

I have also been working on some legislation of my own in Frankfort with some Congressmen to be named later. Believe it or not we do have some good Congressmen who do want to help make changes. Sadly partisan politics destroys some of the good things that can be accomplished.

Even sadder is the fact that many of the obstructionist just do not care about getting things done only caring for who gets credit for it. It is a pathetic display by some and one reason I decided to run for the House of Representatives.

We must show these "powers that be" that representation is of the people, by the people, and for the people again. Our American way of life was never predicated on the belief of the party, by the party, and for the party. Help me send that message to them in May with your primary vote and your contributions.

There are many on both sides willing to help us get change but they are waiting for someone to lead the way. Leaders waiting for leadership just does not make sense does it?

I am not at liberty to discuss my situation yet but rest assured it will be outed at the earliest time possible and many of you will be surprised. Hopefully happily so.

In the meantime stay tuned I will update more when I get some free time......

THIENEMAN ANSWERS HEINER PLAN

Hal Heiner put out his economic plan for Louisville yesterday and it did not take long for the Chris Tieneman campaign to respond. While there will be some for or against this statement there are some points in it. Hale Heiner indeed does have his business in Indiana and employs approximately 1000 people. Is that important when running for Mayor of Louisville and trying to tell folks you will create jobs here?

You can read the Thieneman response below:

February 1, 2010

Louisville, KY. Statement from Chris Thieneman:

“On September 15, 2009, when Mr. Heiner announced he was running for mayor, he said that he had experience in job attraction and when it came to jobs ‘[He] knew who to call.’ For the period of 2000-2008, Louisville lost more than 2,200 jobs. In that same time, Mr. Heiner recruited Louisville companies, and close to 1,000 jobs, to fill space in his Jeffersonville industrial park. Roughly 45% of the net jobs lost can be attributed to Heiner’s actions in sending companies to Southern Indiana, padding the pocket book of Mr. Heiner’s company.

Mr. Heiner built the industrial park. That is like me taking credit for every person who lives in a home built by my company or business that has space in one of the commercial lots I’ve built. Credit should go to the local business owner and entrepreneurs whose companies provide the jobs.

Mr. Heiner has spent 8 years on the Metro Council. As jobs were being leached from the community, he provided no solution to replace the depleting job market. If he knew who to call, he should have picked up the phone in 2006 or 2007 or 2008. Heiner took these jobs to Indiana even while the city of Louisville was trying to keep the jobs here. While on the council, he did not provide innovative solutions to solve the city’s worsening job situation, or offer to change the tax code to make Louisville more business friendly to local businesses and companies looking to relocate.

With his record on the Metro Council and the actions of his company, we should be worried as to where the jobs will be attracted. We need jobs in Louisville. We need to put the people who live in Jefferson County to work. Mr. Heiner cannot talk about a stellar job attraction record to Louisville when he sent Louisville jobs to Indiana.

We need a mayor who puts Louisville first. Mr. Heiner is a nice guy, but having been on the Metro Council these 8 years, and with the current climate, he has been part of the problem. That is especially true of taking Louisville jobs to Indiana for profit.”
